Pinion gear removal

How do you remove the pinion gear from the main shaft? I removed the left hand nut but can,t get gear to move.

You need a puller to pop it off, it is seated on a taper and has a key for alignment.

I have the Kent moore puller works great, Jims makes one I'm sure for much less
